Making Waves with Opus Ditty and the Hoedown Gang
Sunday, February 21st, 2010So, i am really excited to announce that the long awaited new CD from Opus Ditty and the Hoedown gang is now available for the masses to behold and marvel. This is children’s music at it’s best, polished and honed to the nth degree and is a rollicking good listen from start to finish… and that’s not even mentioning the secret track.
These guys and gals have put their all into crafting this disc for everyone’s enjoyment and their hard work shines though with every decibel. I have been happy and proud to have been invited along to create the illustrations and designs for their CD packaging. Pick up a copy for you and yours at opusditty.com

The Gang is already delving into a new album as we speak. I am looking forward to gearing up for a fresh batch of drawings of their latest exploits. A music video is in the works too! Keep your eyes on the horizon!
things just might look a little more crisp and colorful around here…
Sunday, August 9th, 2009because… finally…!

science, its what’s for dinner!
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009Possibly the greatest ramen packaging, EVER! These “science noodles”
are my latest and greatest find at the Ranch 99 Market in Atlanta.
Your one stop shop for all things Asian. For just $0.39 you can learn
about what I assume are diagrams of the big bang and the big dipper
while chowing down on MSG-smitten-carb-a-licious science!
“A kiss to the spirit of the future” as the back says…

Would you care for astronaut or wizard flavor?
The runner up was this sentimental cookie:

It even has a sort of…guarantee, kind of.
And yet still you are here at the bottom of my heart <3 <3 <3
swoon.

intense vintaging – dixie marathon part 1
Monday, November 17th, 2008so, the weekend was just packed! it can’t possibly be contained within
one blog post. so here goes the first thing of a two part thing. we found
ourselves within the vicinity of the famous “needful things” antiques mall
located in hendersonville nc, and felt that we couldn’t do ourselves a
disservice and pass by one more time without a look-see.
.
well, a quick stop off proved to be a three hour trek through the sprawling caverns of
this well stocked establishment. there is an unbelievable amount of kitsch and craft to
be had and the following is just a small sample of the greatest hits. honestly they should
be sending us a hefty gift certificate for the huge plug we are about to give them since
all this great stuff is STILL THERE, and probably wont be going anywhere soon. so go
now! buy buy buy!
you never know who you are going to run into while browsing the hundreds of nooks
and crannies in this place, the clientèle was colorful to say the least.
it goes without saying that there were the classic duds, like this charming painting
of an idyllic appalachian sibling couple second guessing their choice of outdoor
activity. not as much fun as you thought that it was going to be huh??
but upon further searching, some real gems started to turn up like this amazing
chinese checkers set…
and 1970’s coin-op goodness…
of which the cabinet art deserves closer inspection, yes it really does say “insert
coins here” on her belt buckle. right above “balls to play”. an unexpected peak into
kinky 70’s swinger culture.
the interests span the generations from one archie…
to another.
the obligatory rusted vintage signs.
but perhaps the most chilling item found was one parent’s unapologetic attempt
to indoctrinate their offspring into a life of misery and isolation. upon stumbling
on this item, i had to take a break in the nearest restroom to splash my face with
cold water shokcing myself back to reality. looking up, i noticed the brand of paper
towel dispenser to be the “dixie marathon”, a fitting name for this past weekend.
and this is only the first blog post of two!
Bike messengers see the darnedest things!
Thursday, October 30th, 2008This story was relayed to me by one of NYC’s bravest set of wheels…
Apparently while delivering a package to some modeling agency he was greeted coming out of the elevator by not one, but two men wearing…
SWEATERS AS PANTS.
Yes, that’s what he says.
Were they cable knit? cashmere? CARDIGANS??? (god, i hope not)
I’ve seen some pretty ridiculous “statements” (nonsense) here so far, but this takes the Splenda-cake, FO SHO!
If i find out more details, you’ll be the first to know..
