signage, fresh from kauai. the proof? can you not see the aloha shirt in the reflection?
who could it be??? believe it or not it’s not me.

So, we were pleasantly suprised to find upon our first trip to the mailbox after returning
from NYC, this small, impeccably designed and packaged little number patiently waiting
for us. Our friends at Orange You Glad have once again outdone themselves with an
amazing Halloween treat. Check it out!

Truth be told, in the past, New York City was not really known as a town that made
a big deal out of celebrating All Hallow’s eve. But that all changed when Orange You
Glad came to town and started bringing Halloween cheer to the boroughs in a big way
on an annual basis. I mean, seriously, how can you ignore such true spirit!

We completely missed out on the festivities this time around, existing only in limbo
after our stint in the city. But we’ve just had it delivered to our doorstep. Thanks guys!!
To me, nothing says “America!” more than Jello. Nothing except red, white and blue striped
sugar coated Jello, carefully crafted into a flag- that I personally think even Betsy Ross
would have to admit- is pretty bangin’!

Every couple of years I remember how much I like J-E-L-L-O, and I get out the Jello bible, my
1958 copy of Better Homes and Gardens SALAD BOOK “new salads ideas for every occasion”.
And while they don’t get into the American flag salad, they cover such catawamptiously delicious
hors d’oeuvres as “Apple-ball and Ham Salad”, “Melon polka dot mold”, “Rosy fruit mold with cheese”
and everyone’s favorite: “Hot humpy-dumpty salad in a bread boat”
Here are a few of my favorites concoctions featuring such ingredient forerunners as mayonnaise,
unflavored gelatin, and if you’re really lucky, just plain ole fashioned SPAM. Top it off with a maraschino
cherry and a can of crushed pineapple and you’ve got the whole kit and kaboodle. Oh- and by favorite,
I mean my favorite to look at with awe and generation gap wonder- not to actually eat.
In case you’re new to the world of Jello- enter with caution, and a word of advice- unflavored gelatin
is supposed to smell like death when it comes in contact with liquid, its truly one of life’s little miracles.
Happy birthday nation!

This is my favorite Christmas present. Its from Lily. She found it in
Alabama, which we all know has the best thrift stores. In case you
can’t tell, its a bottle opener called Bar Maid! You put the bottle in
her mouth, and she does the rest. Under her discreet pantaloons
is a corkscrew, as she gracefully opens your wine.
Oh, and did I mention that its also about a foot tall? We have had a
historic problem of ALWAYS losing our bottle openers, and there is very
little problem finding this in the kitchen drawer. Hooray for Alabama
thrift stores and for Lily!
i had to pull this sketch from the stacks to respond to the fab drawings posted yesterday.
also just to illustrate the point that when it comes to the physics of the gastrointestinal
tract, for every action there is NOT ALWAYS an equal and opposite reaction, or at least
not for quite a while sometimes.
You may have noticed a little something different lately with
the website that you are viewing right now. No! its not your
imagination, loveboundtrain.com is looking pretty sexy all of
a sudden, right?
